At Coon Creek Ranch, we raise angus cattle with close attention to their health and development. We are involved every step of the way, from growing our own feed, to handling the cattle, to processing.
Quality starts right here on our ranch. We grow hay to feed our cattle and straw for bedding, without pesticides or chemical treatments. Growing these crops ourselves allows us to know exactly what goes into caring for our cattle.
For their first six months, our Angus cattle stay with their mothers and free graze on open pastures. They are then finished on a mix of corn silage, hay, cracked corn, soybean meal, vitamins, and minerals. Their diet is about 25% non-GMO grains and 75% silage and hay. Our cattle are raised without any added hormones or antibiotics.
Our cattle are typically finished and processed between 14 and 18 months of age. They are processed in Caro, MI, at our USDA-inspected facility, Coon Creek Packing. Each animal is properly aged, cut, and packaged, from steaks and roasts to ground beef, with every cut meeting our quality standards.
After processing, our beef is sent to Coon Creek Steakhouse, where it is made ready for our customers. We offer convenient local pickup in Ray, MI, keeping our beef close to home from the ranch to your table.
